Solutions for limescale in drainage systems

From the experts for calcification sintering limestone drainage systems. Know-how from Switzerland with its numerous tunnels and mountains.

Limescale caused by calcium deposits in drainage systems is a global problem, and we’ve found a global solution for it.
Adding stabilizers to the groundwater can completely prevent the formation of new limescale deposits. Existing deposits are dissolved.

Two methods are available: Depot stones and liquid systems.

Depot Stones

Depot stones are suitable when the flow of water is low or irregular, as well as for protecting the seepage packs of new constructions.

Depots stones consist of 80 % active ingredient and 20 % carrier substance.

Contact with the groundwater releases the stones’ active ingredient and thus prevents the formation of new deposits. Pre-existing deposits are softened and dissolved.

The depot stones have numerous possible applications. First and foremost is the protection of seepage packs and drainage pipes in new constructions.

Installation of 0.5 kg/m‘ depot stones in the seepage packs at the Ceneri Base Tunnel

and / or

Installation in the shafts of drainage systems.

The effect takes place immediately after contact with the groundwater.

Liquid Systems

The constant addition of stabilizers to the groundwater completely prevents the formation of calcium deposits along the flow path.Old, pre-existing deposits dissipate.

Benefits of Treatment with Stabilizers

  • lower flushing costs
  • no unnecessary wear and tear of the drainage system
  • less disruption in the operation of the infrastructure system
  • minimum shutdown times for the infrastructure system
  • longer service life for the complete construction

The system consists of:

A storage container, collecting basin, cabinet with a dosing pump, dosing line connected to the drainage system.

The systems are available in all sizes.

Deposits disappear shortly after adding the stabilizers.

Potential savings through treatment with stabilizers (depot stones / liquid systems)
  • A 60 % reduction in annual flushing costs
  • The cost of installing a liquid system pays for itself in just 2 or 3 years
